The Renewable Energy and Environmental Technologies Cluster was identified as one of the four strategic areas determined through a competitiveness analysis conducted in 2007 within the Ostim Organized Industrial Zone. It was recognized, along with its supporting sectors, as a sector of the future and began its activities in 2009 with infrastructure development efforts.
Based on the current state of the sector, when we examine the structure of the companies operating in the field of renewable energy and environmental technologies within the boundaries of the Ostim Organized Industrial Zone, we encounter firms with different profiles. The first group consists of companies directly producing in the energy sector. The second group includes companies operating in related and supporting industries that, in line with the increase in the sector’s added value and regulatory developments, have also directed their investments toward the energy sector. The third group comprises companies that follow the sector in order to make future plans.
